Bad Boys. Bad Boys

“We ride together, we die together, bad boys for life”

I recently had the opportunity to watch the new film, Bad Boys for Life, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. It takes place after 17 years of the second film being released, in Miami of 2020. If you haven’t seen the film yet, I am warning you that there are many spoilers here.

Marcus Burnett, played by Martin Lawrence, is thinking of retiring after witnessing the birth of his grandson. Mike Lowrey, played by the phenomenal Will Smith, has a hard time letting go of this ride that has been going on for over 30 years.

Mike Lowrey gets shot.

I have watched so many movies where Will Smith’s character gets shot. This one hurt the most because I had no idea it was coming. That is what made this film so interesting, you never knew what was going to happen.

People were getting shot, killed, and thrown off buildings left and right. I can’t lie, these were the best parts about the Bad Boy films.

The storyline for this film was confusing but intriguing, which left the audience wanting more.

Mike Lowrey has a secret kid, a kid that he had with a psychotic cartel witch. That just blows my mind, especially because no one knows that’s his son till the end of the movie.

This movie was made to have you at the edge of your seats and to laugh at your loudest. Smith and Lawrence made sure to have their hilarious comments in the movie, it is something they are known for in the films.

After its debut, the film earned 62 million dollars.

Forbes announced that “ The $90 million Sony release is projected to earn around $73 million for the Fri-Mon Martin Luther King Day Jr holiday weekend and around $110 million worldwide”.

The movie is slightly boring in the beginning.

It starts off a little slow, you laugh a little then start to just sit there with no emotion. Which is okay, because it makes me want to get out of my seat and be apart of an action film.

Oh my gosh. Captain Howard, played by Joe Pantoliano, dies.

He gets shot by Armando, a man who is responsible for all of the assassinations, and it was just heartbreaking to watch. Captain Howard is known for his crazy meltdowns that he had with Mike and Marcus. They looked up to him and I could speak for a lot of us that we all did. To witness Howard get shot was discouraging, and being pronounced dead made it worst. Why are all of my favorite characters in the film getting killed? So upsetting.

After waiting 17 years for Bad Boys for Life to come out in theaters, it is worth the money to go watch this film. I already want to buy the DVD to take home and watch the movie everyday.
