The NFL has announced plans for the 2020 NFL Draft to be on the fountain lake at the Bellagio
The Super Bowl is over, and the entire football world moves their attention to the draft this coming April. With that said, there will be much anticipation to see how each organization will set themselves up for next season.
The draft is a magical time, as fans are scheming up who they think their team should choose, for the coaches and organizations they are in much anticipation to get the next generation of players into their locker rooms in hopes these players will lead them to the promise land, and for the players getting drafted their lifelong dream of becoming an NFL football player becomes a reality, it truly is an exciting time.
This year seems to be even more magical as the draft is in Las Vegas, and not just at any place, it is at the Bellagio. One of the premier attractions directly on the famous Las Vegas Strip.
If that was not enough the LA Times reported, “The NFL’s plans for the 2020 draft in Las Vegas include the possibility of a stage on the lake of the Fountains at the Bellagio with players transported by boat, closing down sections of the Strip for parts of three days and a theater viewing area.”
With plans like these, it goes to show the massive event the NFL Draft has become. Players being boated across the water to the job of their dreams sounds like something of a Disney movie.
Last year the draft was in Nashville; the NFL had an outdoor stage in the downtown area that drew more than 600,000 visitors. Nashville is a busy city but does not come close to the size of Las Vegas. Especially with Los Angles just three hours away, this west coast draft will be attracting many hoping to be a part of such a spectacle.
And the draft never disappoints. This year’s Super Bowl again taught us the importance of the draft. Moves like the Chiefs trading up in the draft to get Patrick Mahomes and now he leads their team out of years of drought from his Superbowl MVP performance. For the 49ers they were one of the worst teams but were able to stack on a quality player after quality payer as they picked up big names like George Kittle and Nick Bosa in the draft.
Starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo for the 49ers explained that he looks at last year’s season as a blessing in disguise. The 49ers went 4-12 last year and due to that, they were able to select Bosa with the second pick in the 2019 draft. Bosa has been a game wrecker all year long and was just awarded defensive rookie of the year at the NFL Honors. His addition made them a top defense in the NFL in only one year.
The draft only grows in hype and popularity as the years go by because, as the 49ers showed, you can go from a 4-12 team to a Superbowl in a year and for the Chiefs in how they have not been to a Superbowl in 50 years but have made significant moves in the draft to get those players that won them the Super Bowl.
