Now you’re probably thinking, why would someone want to spell Spenser with an ‘S’? Well it doesn’t matter because you most likely have seen the movie or you’re about to watch it after reading my review.
Before you continue to read my review on Spenser Confidential, there is something that the viewers have to know. This movie is on Netflix, Mark Wahlberg is amazing, and Post Malone is in the movie. Spenser Confidential is rated R and after you get past the first scene you’ll understand why.
I went in without watching the trailer, how dangerous of me. Not watching the trailer and going in without any knowledge of what it could be about. Well it was a great decision that was made to not watch the trailer before hand because my mind was blown.
What you need to know about the movie is clear and simple. It involves a bunch of Boston officers, Trinitario drug gang, and dirty cops, sounds simple right?
Well obviously there is more to it but why would I want to spoil that when you could watch it yourself.
This review is not written so I can tell you the beginning and end of the movie, just doesn’t seem right.
Especially when the world is in quarantine and you need something to watch to pass time, this is the movie here.
I recommend you watch it with your friends but since you have to social distance yourself, watch it with your dad. Dad’s love action, comedy and who doesn’t love Mark Wahlberg?
Winston Duke, who plays Hawk, at first doesn’t hit it off with Wahlberg but they end up in a brotherly love friendship. You may remember Duke from Black Panther and Us, great casting choice to play Hawk in Spenser Confidential.
I know you are wondering, why is Post Malone in a movie? Well there is no fun if it is spoiled, just know that he kills his role.
There is an understanding to why it was aired on Netflix rather than the theaters. It isn’t great enough to be featured in theaters first. Some could say that the movie was saved because of Wahlberg and that is due to his acting career. Now I have to disagree, for the sucker I am for action and comedy, director Peter Berg did an admirable job.
The movie didn’t stop me from switching to another episode of The Vampire Diaries, it kept me wanting more. Could go back and restate lines because of the interest I had towards the actors. (Small Spoiler Alert) For a second I thought I was right on Wahlberg’s side getting ready to bull doze cars with a semi truck. That is the best part when watching movies, you tend to think that you’re in the scenes with them.
The Trinitario gang, if you don’t know anything about them just know machetes are used and it is so cool. The best advice is to look up Trinitarios background on the internet, you will not be disappointed.
Here are a few things to say before you decide to watch the movie or not, which you should watch. We are all in quarantine due to this pandemic and what best way to kill time than going on Netflix. There are fights, machetes, guns, and cursing but if you’re into that stuff, go on Netflix and search up Spenser Confidential. Recommend to not watch this with little children or siblings as there are a few scenes that are not suitable for their eyes.
Since the trailer is not recommended to watch before the movie, here is a clip from The Ellen Show with Wahlberg on his role, which is his hometown tv hero.
