Quarantine Couture: How Celebs Are Styling Sweats This Spring

Ah, sweet springtime. Though it’s only January, the long-awaited warm breeze and 85-degree days associated with the spring season start rolling around right after we’ve made our New Years Resolutions here in LA. This year is no different.

On a traditional timeline, now would be the time we start shoving hoodies and sweatpants to the back of our closets to make way for spaghetti-straps, sundresses, and our trusty pairs of denim shorts.

Though, after a year spent in quarantine, where swimming in oversized hoodies and lounging in the softest sweatpants became the norm (I mean…at least in my experience), grabbing for the usual spring staples doesn’t feel nearly as exciting. Why exchange your favorite matching sweatsuit for a sundress that’s cute but not NEARLY as comfy?

Well, after looking at what styles celebs have been sporting on Instagram, it’s safe to say we probably won’t have to. By keeping the sweatsuit’s comfortable, cute charm that left them trending in 2020 and ditching the sleeves and oversized-style, these influencers are proving that rocking sweats without sweating up a storm may be easier than we think.

Known for her YouTube channel, where she talks all things fashion and lifestyle, it’s no surprise influencer Sierra Furtado is at the top of our list. By taking the classic matching sweat set and giving it a trendy twist, this look couldn’t be more flirty, flattering, and fun. Perfect for going out for a coffee run or lounging on a lazy Sunday, this adorable set is versatile, comfortable, and won’t leave you melting on sunny days.
Is she going to a premiere, party, or prepping for a night in with Stormi? We’ll never know—but leave it to Kylie Jenner to make loungewear look red carpet ready. Now, I’m not sure how much lounging she’ll be doing while looking this good, but at least she’s going to be looking and feeling like luxury. By pairing a basic ribbed sweatpant with that chic strapless top that provides the perfect amount of detail, Kylie looks her classiest and her comfiest (talk about a win-win).
Supermodel Jordan Kanegis would probably be able to rock a trash bag if she wanted to, but that doesn’t take away from how gorgeous she looks in this intricate matching set. By taking basic grey sweatpants and pairing them with this short-sleeve, backless, mock neck, she could be settling down for the night or, if paired with a leather jacket and some statement earrings, a night out on the town. Breathable, unique, adaptable. What more could you want?
My personal favorite, fashion influencer Deva Pollon is showing off how easy it is to say yes to both a shorts/crop-top duo and the comfiest pair of sweats this spring. Though this set is simple, how she accessorizes makes her look effortlessly flawless. So, if you’re in search of a fit that’s perfect for brunching with friends AND a late-night Netflix binge, you’ll probably want to invest.
Last but certainly not least, fashion influencer Claire Bridges’ fit is the perfect example of how easy it can be to dress up your favorite lazy day look. With a simple color and pattern, this basic sweat-set is one most would think was meant for bedtime. However, seeing how it completely transforms when paired with a statement fur coat and bag, it’s safe to say the days of keeping sweats saved for staying at home are long gone.
