Sports are highly viewed on YouTube. Whether it be video clips from professional games or funny fails of regular people playing sports, it is a very entertaining genre. While many YouTubers play around with or do sports professionally, one channel or more specifically, one group of people have been synonymous with sports on YouTube for the past decade. That channel is Dude Perfect.
Dude Perfect features five main guys. Twins named Cory and Coby Cotton, Garrett Hilbert also known as “The Purple Hoser”, Cody Jones referred to as “Tall Guy”, and Tyler Toney who is sometimes known as “Beard”. Their videos showcase them doing trick shots centered around a theme or purpose. Each video post gets them tens of millions of views with their most popular upload having over 360 million views which was a sequel of them doing water bottle flip tricks. To put that in perspective, this video has around 30 million more views than the current U.S. Population.
Their trick shots are what they are mostly well known for. Using many different sports like baseball, basketball, hockey, golf, and so on, their content has attracted a massive fan base of all different ages. From young children to senior citizens, all have enjoyed watching these five men basically be able to do things that many dream of.
This has only increased due to the group’s expansion on other forms of entertainment. One of these is a show they call “Overtime”. A fun comedic show that puts them doing things that normally wouldn’t fit in their regular content of trick shots. While it was considered a risk of whether or not the fans would enjoy it, the audience enjoyed this new chapter of Dude Perfect. Some of the parts the show has are quite memorable. Two examples of this are “Wheel Unfortunate” and “Cool Not Cool”. While the former is basically putting a member of the group to do something that is considered unfortunate, the latter is to show off cool items that the five guys vote on whether it is cool or not cool.
As if that wasn’t enough, Dude Perfect also released a documentary last year which focused on their journey of the very first tour they did back in 2019. Titled “Dude Perfect: Backstage Pass”, this video which is completely free to watch on their channel, shows parts of their personal lives and personalities off screen. The beautiful moments of them interacting with fans and their family relationships have touched many peoples’ hearts.
One of the biggest reasons Dude Perfect is well respected is their Christian faith. Many times in interviews, news articles, and videos, they express what is the foundation they stand on. Due to this, a lot of people have been touched emotionally by this group. An article written by CBN News stated, “They’re also in the business of giving back, granting some two-dozen wishes for Make-A-Wish Foundation children in less than four years. ‘Once you see these kids and what they’re going through,’ said Tyler Toney of Dude Perfect, ‘it’s a no brainer.’ ‘Knowing that you have the ability to bring them some small amount of hope is such an easy lift for us,” said Toney” (CBN News, 2020). This beautiful gifting of helping children have their dreams come true has inspired many other fans and strangers.
At the end of the day, Dude Perfect is one of the most recognizable channels on YouTube. Their content is one that started off unique and has still continued to remain as its own entertainment. With it ranking in the top 15 most subscribed YouTube Channels, they are still continuing strong with most of their videos having been ranked among the top trends when it is released. For many people, children, teenagers, adults, and seniors have all enjoyed Dude Perfect with a strong fan community.
